TEAM Building 2011 - Organizational Development
THE FEVER IS ON!!! TEAM Building 2011
“Organizational Development…”
Few months back, our organization was confronted with different challenges and filled with issues brought about by the implementation of our New Fire Code R.A. 9514. This transition- from P.D. 1185 has created a bulk of problems and arguments internally and externally, so to speak. There was an overwhelming battle between its constructive and unfavorable effects in our organization and society as a whole. It may have been difficult for the public, our client, to embrace these changes that our organization holds a distinct authority, other than simply being one of the protectors of lives and properties. But this power possesses and imposes so much responsibilities on us; composing this organization. Our defense must imply unity in proving why we deserve to have this law truly entitled to us. In this way we are united amidst diversity, and our differences to project a good effect in the implementation of our new law.
And this must definitely be the reason why the Regional Director decided to pursue this most exciting and awaited event every year, the team building; now dubbed as “Organizational Development,” held last June 2-3, 2011, which purpose is ultimately breaking the monotony of work we have in the office and to nurture the relationships we have that are sometimes torn because of these diversities in our workplace.
It becomes very exciting when this event is held out-of-town. And this makes even thrilling when the organizers choose the comparatively distant places we have in CALABARZON.
Not-so-late to catch up with the mood of summer, it was decided that the venue for this activity be held somewhere in the Province of Quezon; in Brgy. Guis-Guis, Sariarya. The place was about two and a half hour- drive from Calamba City and about thirty- minute drive going to Lucena City proper; not bad for an excursion. It was a beach resort named “Dalampasigan” which literally means seashore. It lies along side the west coastal area of Quezon. The resort was complete with amenities; from bedrooms to cottages, swimming pools and scenic landscapes, they even have a wide dining area enough to accommodate the many visitors and groups that come to enjoy the place.
To closely portray these differences among the offices of RHQ, all personnel were divided into four groups with designated colors. For Green Apple, we have; ORD, PIS, SRU, COMMEL and EMS; for Peach Mango Pie; Logistics, SAPD, Plans and Budget, ARDA and RIAS; for Blue Berry; Admin, Operations, ITS and Motorpool; and for Pink Cherry; the FMD Family.
To boost up the group’s talents and spice up the start of the event, each was encouraged to prepare presentations despite the limited time to create a presentation. Who can forget the bizarre, there was in the presentation performed by the prayerful tribe of Green mango; the dance craze of Blue berry; the Fashion TV-like Entertainment played by the Pink Team; and the extraordinary tribal macho dancers mixed with rap acafelas of Peach Mango. The competition was won by the Green Apple, as judged by the Quezon BFP personnel who were present all throughout the event.
It even made exhilarating when games were held along the seashore; where everyone’s given an even more reason to enjoy the exciting events because of its soft and dry sand suiting for an action-filled competition. Most of the chosen competitions were typically best-known Filipino games or larong pinoy; the Patentero, Sack Race, Shato, Palo Sebo and the tug-of- war which lasted ‘til the evening. Up to the last sight of sunshine, the teams hurled their reserved energy for this breathtaking tug- of- war that almost got everyone’s notable participation.
Later in the evening, as soon as everyone got their fill on the fine and delightful meals, everyone proceeded to the swimming pool area for the awarding ceremony. It happened to be a casual ceremony when everyone’s stayed and took pleasure in the warmth of the water while waiting to receive their awards. The over-all champion was the Green Apple. The Regional Director then ended the program with a very inspiring message; and called the activity a successful one.
