The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 4A has once again celebrated the BFP anniversary. As every year counts for this getting-older organization, the more it becomes passionate for creating a special occasion that has now reached to its 21st year of celebration.

Taking a glimpse in the past, 20 years ago, this Bureau was integrated with the Police Force, and was identified as one entity; the defunct PC/INP. On August 2, 1991 upon the promulgation of the Republic Act 6975, otherwise known as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Act of 1990, the BFP was then mandated to be responsible in saving lives and properties from destructive fires and other related emergencies. Now, on its continuing service, many things had been accomplished that even more proved the worth of this organization. One remarkable shift in history was the passing of the new law, Republic Act (RA) 9514 of 2008, from the former Presidential Decree (PD) 1185, or rightly called, the Fire Code of the Philippines, which has now been intensified and applied in the needs of our time. This law has given the BFP an authority to collect fire code fees as one of the requirements in the issuance of the business permit, which shall then serve as its separate funding for its continuing project of modernization. The command Conference conducted by province which was held during the last part of October served as an avenue to discuss and resolve issues and concerns of the field units. One of the salient topics brought out during the open forum was the repainting of BFP Station façade in brick-tile design that would look similar to RHQs Building and putting up of directional signs along a major thoroughfares/national roads and or highways. Right after the activity, a directive was immediately issued encapsulating the agenda tackled with the attached sample format of the signage. Read More...
